where you will delight in the expertly crafted gifts and holiday decorations and
the beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
Crafts
Each
of the 100 craft exhibitors have been specially selected for their fine craftsmanship.
Christmas in the Colonies has, for many years, been known as a premier show for
quality crafts. It was recognized as Sunshine Artists 200 Best Craft Shows in
America.
Festival of Trees
New
this Year! Stroll through the Festival of Trees sponsored by the Medina County
Women's Endowment Fund where you'll see beautifully decorated trees, all available
for purchase at auction. For information about the Festival of Trees, contact

Santa's
Wonderland
Santa Claus, along with his elves, Rudolph and Frosty
the Snowman will be visiting with children in Santa's Wonderland. Children can
have their faces painted, make a Christmas ornament with the assistance of Medina
County Girl Scouts and get their picture taken with Santa! Cost for the three
activities is $5 per child or $2 per activity.
Entertainment
There's
entertainment for everyone at this year's Christmas in the Colonies. Helen Hammet
is a ventriloquist who has been making people laugh with her characters since
1984. Ms. Hammett has won awards in originality, and first and second place awards
in ventriloquism at the Abbott's Magic Convention in Colon, Michigan. She has
also taken first and second place trophies at the Sunshine Puppetfest in Butler,
Pennsylvania. Helen will be performing Friday and Saturday.
Singer/Songwriter
Kenton Kovich will also be on hand entertaining audiences with his unique brand
of "contemporary-folk" music. Kenton has been performing for more than
25 years and has won first place in the Erie Festival of the Arts annual songwriting
contest two years in a row. Kenton will be performing Friday and Saturday.
Maidens IV - sisters Havilah, Heather, Abigail and Tabitha Justice - will
perform Celtic, Folk, a touch of theatrical drama and fancy fiddling during the
show. Maidens IV will perform Saturday and Sunday.
Dr. Eldoonie is a Magician
who has performed for over 25 years. Dr. Eldoonie is from Sunbury, Ohio and gets
around! He has performed on the White House lawn under both Bush and Clinton administrations
as well as in Korea, France and many states throughout the United States. Dr.
Eldoonie has been featured on the cover page of the OHIO Magazine and the syndicated
TV program "Entertainment Tonight." He was selected as the World's Fastest
Magician by the Guinness Book of World Records and has carried this title since
November 1989. Dr. Eldoonie will perform Friday and Sunday.
The Medina
Center for Dance Art and Trinity Dance Company under the direction of owner/director
Kelly Parks will be performing ballet, modern dance, and tap. Girls range in age
from 3 to 15. Six of these young ladies were selected to perform in The Nutcracker
with the San Jose Ballet at Playhouse Square.
Alpaca
Exhibit
The folks of Coffee Pot Farms are bringing us some cute
and cuddly Alpacas in a 'petting zoo' type setting. They will be sharing all about
Alpacas. Children will be able to make some special wool balls and the public
will be able to purchase some Alpaca products.
Food
You
can't visit Christmas in the Colonies without trying the food! Marie's Café
on the Square of Medina will be offering a bill of fare featuring deliciously
prepared soups, salads and sandwiches. For snacking there will be kettle korn
and cinnamon toasted nuts and well as the pastry lady and fudge lady.
